Arab World Tour 2006

Well we (my brother and I) are finally in the serious planning stages of a trip we’ve been longing to make for years. It’s the first of a three leg road trip to visit every Arab country.

Stage One (June/July 2006):

From Alexandria to Rabat.
We are going to drive from Egypt through Libya, Tunis, and Algeria, to Morocco (the boarder of the last two is closed but we are looking for a way around that) and may even take a side trip and ferry up through the straights of Gibraltar up to El Hammra….blogging, photoblogging, podcasting, and interviewing all the way.

We want to meet as many bloggers, politicians, and just good ol people as we can so start hooking up those invites and recommendations. Email OneArabWorld (at) hot mail.com.

Also if any form of media would like to sponsor the trip in exchange for some exclusive coverage we would be very open.

Peace

-Karim Elsahy

2 - Absolutely Awesome :) I would love to get to do that! So is "Bilad Al Sham" in phase two?? When are you coming to Jordan? I'm sure I speak for many in the Jordanian blogosphere when I say we'd love to help you meet all the people you'd like to meet and see all the places you thought or didn't think of ;)

Well besides all the blogging and podcasting, you should do a book or a film on it.. I've always thought how wonderful it would be to go backpacking through the Arab world, and how horrible it would feel when you end up getting stuck for the visas!! (Comment this)

3 - Yeah we cant wait! We’ve wanted to do it forever. Actually phase two involves fling down to the southern edge of Sudan and driving back up in December. Next summer… El Sham… best for last.

My brother has a DV cam and were gona make a documentary out of it too. (Comment this)

4 - Mashallah! I've always wanted to visit Morrocco, I hear it's a very beautiful country! It would have been nice to go from Turkey through Palestine all the way to Morrocco in a straight line. But as Lina said, the borders are going to be horrible while they sit for hours stamping your passport and then throwing it across the room for you to catch. (Comment this)

5 - Well you missed out on Mauritania & djibouti in Africa.
& on the most important area of them all, since you are for Arabism (whatever that means),which is ARABIA itself.
Saudi arabia-Yemen-Oman-Emirates-Qatar-Bahrain-Kuwait & Iraq then the Levant.
It is very good to have someone willing to go along with you, though what sort of car will take that bashing trip & the costs not to mention the hassle at borders but Goodluck anyway & enjoy it. (Comment this)

7 - Visit Aures Mt.s when you get to Algeria. And make sure to stop to see the ruins in Tipasa and elsewhere, there are many to see in Algeria. Say hello to beach for me when you get to Oran as well. You will enjoy the Maghreb, I am sure.

Cheers,

8 - What a genius idea!!! You never know, you can be the makers of a new trend - instead of students backpacking through Europe or through Asia, where they will ultimately suffer from food poisoning, they can start considering the Middle East! Can TOTALLY be done on a budget, and GREAT FOOD! Wish I can come! Good luck, CANNOT wait to hear all about it. :) (Comment this)
